My name is Alina, and if there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that the most beautiful experiences begin the moment we step out of our comfort zone.

I was born in Romania in 1988, and at the age of 14, I moved with my family to Italy. For many years, Italy was home — until 2015, when I felt the need for something bigger. After the end of a long relationship, I decided to start fresh in London. It was scary at first, but London became my greatest teacher. Every day was an adventure: discovering new artists, falling in love with music festivals, wandering through street art, and slowly realizing that I wanted to build something of my own.

After three exciting years in London (and a brief stay in Paris), another life-changing opportunity appeared: moving to the Maldives. I still remember the butterflies in my stomach boarding that first flight from Milan to Malé. And then… opening my eyes after a night flight and seeing paradise outside the window. That moment stayed with me forever.

 

The Maldives gave me so much — seven months on a resort island where time felt like it stood still, friendships that became like family, and later, the chance to dive deeper into tourism while working in the capital. It wasn’t always easy, but it was real, challenging, and unforgettable.

 

Eventually, life called me back to Europe. It wasn’t an easy choice, but with my partner’s support, I turned all those experiences into something new: Unique Getaways.

 

This is more than just a business for me — it’s the story of my life. It’s proof that every challenge, every leap into the unknown, and every new destination shapes us in ways we can’t imagine.
